NEW OFFICE SETUP // IT'S HABTOONS 4.0! by Hab Oh

This week has been incredibly pleasant in the land of Habtoons. From silly cartoon tier list videos to recapping the most amazing BLACK comic book convention, confessing my love to Halle Berry, and even dippin my toes into the word of Virtual Reality. It’s a good time to be a Habgoblin!

LET ME UPGRADE YA!

Earlier in the week, my best homie from cali, Bomaye hit me up with info on an amazing deal on a incredible pre-built Lenovo PC. I was skeptical at first but after watching several videos and reading a few dozen reviews, I was ready to take the plunge and make this heavily discounted investment.

Let me tell you. This was the GREATEST decision of my career.

If you’ve never been to my Livestreams or just don’t know, I’ve been streaming and creating art/content on an expensive Dell laptop that was ONLY meant for 4k Video Editing. However, because I’m always trying to do too much, I turned it into a Frankenstein workstation that would: stream, edit video, play games, make art, host live talk shows, and more. Suffice it to say, I wore that poor Dell out!

Now that I have this Lenovo PC, so much has changed in literally the span of a day. I’m able to not only utilize the apps and programs I’ve been using at maximum efficiency (no more laggy art streams) but step further into spaces I couldn’t even have dreamed of.

We’re talking things like VIRTUAL REALITY.

Yes. In addition to the Lenovo PC Sale, Best Buy was also running a promo on the Meta Quest 2. After years of going back and forth on whether I needed this or not, I finally decided to pull the trigger. I spent most of Tuesday/Wednesday figuring this thing out and I feel like I’m in a scifi movie, this tech is astonishing and I can’t WAIT to share what I’ve got in store. I’m already looking at apps like KingSpray, TiltBrush, and Gravity Sketch for art making.

Best believe we’ll be having VR Streams soon.

THE ROAD TO YOUTUBE PARTNER

Y’all did it! This video went NUTS on the channel, beyond what I initially expected. The community jumped up by 20+ Subs and pushed us ever close to our goal of 1,000 YouTube Subscribers. We’re now sitting at 682/1000, insane!

It’s all thanks to the support from YOU, the Habgoblin Community. I’m feeling frisky, let’s get this video to 500 views by May 1st! We reach that and I’ll do something special for us all.

PATREON UPDATE IN PROGRESS

With new community members and equipment in tow, it’s time for a Patreon Refresh. While I’ve been more active than usual, I believe I can provide more value for y’all. Within the next few weeks, the Habtoons Patreon will be updated with new exclusive content, more frequent updates, and updated subscription tiers. Don’t worry, I won’t overwork myself!

It’s going to be a great May 2023 and I look forward to having you all around for the ride!

Stay gold

1K BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY // THE ROAD TO YOUTUBE PARTNER! by Hab Oh

I’m now in full swing with publishing videos to YouTube in addition to Livestreaming. It was so nice to be back on, chatting with y’all in real time. The morning stream was especially cool, felt like we were co-working together or something. I’ve also been mad pleased with the growing engagement so far for everything too! So thank YOU for showing up and showing out! My ex-wife was very pleased!!

THIS ONE’S ALL ABOUT “THE TUBE”

While I do like Twitch, I just don’t vibe with that platform as much as I do with YouTube. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve learned a lot with my time on Twitch, especially during the first 2 years of the pandemic. However, YouTube serves more than just streaming. It’s a site creators can utilize to create a hub-like experience for their creations. I love that I have post videos, shorts, streams, polls, and other content all in the same place!

That being said, I have an important goal in mind: reach YouTube Partner Status. This will NOT be an easy task as the requirements are a bit hardcore but I’m willing to bust my ass for it. YouTube Partner Status will enable me to monetize my channel, upload my own emotes for our Premieres and Livestreams, in addition to a bunch of other great features that will elevate my channel to newer heights!

So, I’m calling this new challenge: 1K BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! My birthday isn’t until September 24th of this year so I figure that would be decent amount of time to get this moving. I need to reach 1000 subscribers (which would be a “follower” on Twitch) AND 4,000 watch hours within, I believe, their own calendar year. It’s the watch hours that I feel may be the more tedious part of it. That’s where y’all come in!

VIEWS ON VIEWS ON VIEWS

I truly appreciate everyone who has been so incredibly active on the channel since my return. Your engagement matters A LOT. Every like, comment, share and even the length of which you watch a video or stream matters. It tells the YouTube Algorithm that my channel is something worthwhile to be seen by a larger audience, which is what we DO want.

I don’t want to overload myself or you with my content so, as of right now, here’s the current schedule:

+ 1 video per week // Tuesdays
+ 4 livestreams per week // Morning + Evening // Tuesdays & Thursdays
+ Semi-Daily YouTube Shorts (still figuring out timing and quantity)

If you haven’t, check out my most recent videos here:

+ The All-New Hab Oh Experience
+ 7 Worst Habits Visual Artists Have & How To Fix ‘Em!
+ 5 Worst Habits Visual Artists Have & How To Fix ‘Em!
+ My Art: 2016 v 2023, Part 2, Timelapse
+ EPIC Ethel Cast, Timelapse

As the channel grows and I get myself a Video Editor, the volume may increase but right now we’re just vibing with this upload schedule.

GRATITUDE, DUDE!

After years of working tirelessly within this artrepreneur lifestyle, I finally feel this may actually be my year. Regardless of the struggles I’ve faced, I’m happy to be where I am, happy to have the privilege to create art on a regular basis, and happy to be able to share that with all of you. I don’t know why but I’m feeling emotional as I write this, in a good way.

I just wanted to say, again, thank you all for your ongoing support across all things I create and produce. Let’s make this YouTube Journey the best there ever was!

Until next time, stay gold

IT'S HAPPENING! // STREAMING ANNOUNCEMENT! by Hab Oh

HAB OH LIVE IS BYKE!

Habgoblins! April is right around the corner and March has flown by so fast. I’m so glad we’re finally moving into Spring, I’m not too fond of severe cold weather, haha. Anyway, today’s a special day….my Ex-Wife is finally out of prison…..OH and I’m making my return to livestreaming on Monday, April 10th! YES!

TIME IS HEALTH, HEALTH IS WEALTH

As mentioned previously, I’m changing my entire approach in how I create art, video content, and livestreams. I’ll still utilize both Twitch and YouTube, however the primary platform will be YouTube. Twitch has been great and has introduced me to the grand world of the streaming era of content creation, but I find that the platform lacks a lot of critical features that YouTube has implemented over the course of the last few years.

For my own wellbeing, streams will typically only last for about 2-3 hours. I am not an advocate or fan of extremely long livestreams. This is an unhealthy practice that I pray will fade away over the course of 2023 and the years to come as streaming continues to grow and shift the content creation landscape.

That being said, first couple weeks back, I want to try an experiment that I hope you’ll join me for! Instead of streaming for 6+ hours in one sitting, there will be two streams on the same day. One stream in the morning and one for the evening, with both featuring a completely different subject or piece of content.

As An Example: Morning Stream - Live Drawing // Evening Stream - Gaming
Or: Morning Stream - Just Chatting // Evening Stream - Live Drawing

If reception to this new format is well received, I’ll make it a permanent fixture in my schedule. Speaking of, you’ll always be able to see what’s coming up right here.

MORE ART, LESS GAME

I love video games. You love video games. Who doesn’t LOVE video games? They offer hours of entertainment which include gripping stories, engaging gameplay, and amazing visuals. However, I don’t want to be a video game content creator. At the end of the day, I’m a Cartoonist, Comic Artist, Illustrator, and general Visual Artist. That should ALWAYS be on one’s mind when they’re watching a Hab Oh Livestream.

This doesn’t mean gaming is completely off the table. I do plan to stream Diablo IV, Destiny 2, and Starfield this year; in addition to any fun multiplayer games, we may get into for community night.

My approach to art-based streams will change. My goal is to have these streams become more interactive, allowing the audience to engage with the work being created. I’ve always been fond of content and streams that leave you with a new piece of knowledge or learned skill. This will begin the incorporation of Live Drawing Workshops, Art Request Streams, Community Art Nights, Art News Discussion, and so much more!

Additionally, for synergy, I do plan on creating art based around the games I choose to play/stream. That way, either form of media is always on our minds. I honestly just want an excuse to draw my Warlock from Destiny 2.

As I made a promise to myself not to EVER overdo it, here’s what you should expect from Hab Oh LIVE within the next couple of weeks - months:

+ Live Drawing Streams // Art Therapy Streams
+ Patreon Art Request Streams
+ Outdoor Streams (IRL)
+ Game Streams: Destiny 2, Diablo IV
+ Just Chatting: Art & Art World News
+ Art Workshop Streams

Things I need to accomplish before the return stream:

+ New Alert Graphics
+ New Emotes
+ New Alert Sounds
+ New Overlay Graphics
+ Slightly Revamped Iconography
+ New Channel Trailer

To be honest, this section is really just to keep myself accountable and now YOU can do it too!

GOALS FOR 2023 aka THE ENDGAME

Ultimately, my goal is to become part of the YouTube Partner Program. I want YouTube to be the hub for all my video/streaming content and I need to reach 1000 subscribers (which would be a “follower” on Twitch) + 4,000 watch hours to not only be able to monetize my channel further BUT to gain access to upload custom emotes, alerts, and other YouTube specific features.

I’m currently at 639/1000 subscribers and 582/4,000 hours. So, we’re making some decent progress there! If you’re reading this, it means you’re probably REALLY into my art & content, right? That being said, I’d truly appreciate your likes, comments, and shares on my growing library of streams and videos. Every one of those actions greatly help and feed that insatiable hunger of the YouTube Algorithm. I wonder if my Ex-Wife got a connect a YouTube….

Anyway, I’m happy to finally return and see all of you again in real time! April 10th, here we come!!

Until then, stay gold!!!
